WoW Classic - Burning Crusade Official Blizzard Survey Yesterday, players on Reddit began reporting that they received an official survey from Blizzard asking questions about a hypothetical Burning Crusade Classic Server. 2. Next Reset - Legacy Loot Coming to Legion Instances Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) With scheduled weekly maintenance the week of March 31, we’re enabling Legacy loot rules in Legion raids and dungeons. We’re reached that point in an expansion where the content from the previous expansion no longer requires a full group, and the rewards are primarily sought by transmog collectors. With this change, Legion raid and dungeon encounters will drop a fixed quantity of class-agnostic loot. Today, if you and one other player enter Emerald Nightmare on Mythic difficulty and kill Nythendra, it’s unlikely that you’ll receive any loot, since drop rates normally scale to the number of players. After this change, Nythendra will always drop 5 items from her loot table, regardless of your group size. Dungeons and many of the lower-difficulty raid bosses in Legion are already soloable by well-equipped Battle for Azeroth characters, though some bosses, especially on Mythic difficulty, may still require you to bring a few friends. Nonetheless, this should amount to a great increase in the availability of Legion transmog gear. See you there! 6. More Flexibility with Essences Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) We’ve just made a significant update to the new Echoes of Ny’alotha system, with the goal of making Essences much more available to your characters whose specializations put them in different roles (tanking, healing, damage). With this change, we’ve lifted the restrictions on acquiring role-specific Azerite Essences from MOTHER. Now, the various ways that you obtain Rank 3 tanking, healing, or damage-specific Essences are now grouped together. If you’ve earned any of the three Essences in these groups, all three of the Essences will be unlocked for purchase from MOTHER with Echoes of Ny’alotha: Spark of Inspiration, Unwavering Ward, Strength of the Warden (obtained from Horrific Visions)Touch of the Everlasting, Spirit of Preservation, Breath of the Dying (obtained from reputation with Rajani)Blood of the Enemy, Artifice of Time, Sphere of Suppression (obtained from Battlegrounds)Condensed Life Force, Vitality Conduit, Azeroth’s Undying Gift (obtained from raiding in The Eternal Palace)Essence of the Focusing Iris, Life-Binder’s Invocation, Anima of Life and Death (obtained from Mythic Keystone dungeons) As a reminder, this was already the case with Purification Protocol, Nullifcation Dynamo, and Well of Existence (the Rustbolt Resistance Essences) as well as The Ever-Rising Tide, Aegis of the Deep, and The Unbound Force (the Nazjatar Essences). A side-effect of this change is that even a single character now has a way to obtain these off-role Essences, and can either use Echoes to purchase them from MOTHER or use the original means of acquisition. That means that your Priest who raided Azshara in Shadow-spec and got Condensed Life-Force up to Rank 3 is now able to obtain Vitality Conduit from MOTHER for a Holy-spec healing boost. Thank you for all of your feedback on this! View the full article

N’Zoth the Corruptor Tank-specialization characters should no longer be targeted by Paranoia on all difficulties. Developers’ note: Paranoia’s coordination requirements when tanks are involved is a bit higher than we’d like. This fix prevents tanks from being targeted altogether, preventing awkward moments where a ranged character would need to run a long distance to meet up with a tank partner. Mythic Keystone Dungeon Tidesage Council Blessing of the Tempest should now be more visible when active on Galecaller Faye. Blowback damage reduced by 20%. Slicing Blast damage reduced by 20%. Waycrest Manor Reduced the rate at which members of the Heartsbane Triad gain energy from the Focusing Iris, resulting in an increased delay before Dire Ritual is cast. Items and Rewards Corrupted Items [With regional restarts] All equipment rewards from Horrific Visions are now Corrupted. Developers’ note: We’ve heard from many players that Corrupted Items were not obtainable enough, limiting their ability to play with the system and its inherent tradeoffs. This change will substantially increase the number of Corrupted Items reliably earned each week, allowing players to choose from among a greater selection of Corrupted pieces and enjoy those that work best in a given situation. Twisted Appendage no longer benefits from buffs like Power Word: Shield or Earthen Wall. Twisted Appendage and Infinite Stars can no longer trigger more than once every 12 seconds during player versus player combat. Heart of Azeroth [With regional restarts] Players who have Rank 3 Azerite Essences on at least one character can now more easily acquire those Essences on other characters on the same account via a new currency: Echoes of Ny’alotha. MOTHER will offer any eligible character a Rank 3 Essence for 500 Echoes of Ny’alotha each. Any player who is eligible to purchase at least one Essence from MOTHER will now receive Echoes of Ny’alotha from a wide range of activities in current content: Black Empire Assault – 125 Echoes of Ny’alotha Aqir/Amathet/Mantid/Mogu Assault – 75 Echoes of Ny’alotha Horrific Visions – 50 Echoes of Ny’alotha, plus 25 per additional objective completed (i.e. 150 Echoes of Ny’alotha for a full clear) Emissary Quest – 50 Echoes of Ny’alotha Heroic Darkshore Warfront – 75 Echoes of Ny’alotha Normal/Heroic/Mythic Ny’alotha raid bosses – 15-25 Echoes of Ny’alotha each, once per week per boss Ny’alotha Raid Finder wings – 25 Echoes of Ny’alotha Random Battleground wins – 15-25 Echoes of Ny’alotha Rated Arena wins – 10-25 Echoes of Ny’alotha baseline, scaling up with PvP rank Rated Battleground wins – 35 Echoes of Ny’alotha baseline, scaling up with PvP rank Weekly PvP Cache – 175 to 300 Echoes of Ny’alotha, based on PvP rank Mythic Keystone dungeon end-of-run chest – 3 Echoes of Ny’alotha per Keystone Level (i.e. 30 Echoes of Ny’alotha for a Mythic 10) Weekly Mythic Keystone Dungeon Cache – 20 Echoes of Ny’alotha per highest Keystone Level Developers’ note: The general goal here is that doing Assaults and associated Horrific Visions should provide enough to get at least one Rank 3 Essence of your choice per week. Doing other content you like (PvP, dungeons, or raids) will increase that significantly, depending on the level of content you’re doing. Of course, Essences can still be earned normally via their associated activities, so if you want to get your Essence of the Focusing Iris directly via Mythic Keystone dungeons and then buy others from MOTHER, that’s now an option. Within a couple of weeks of hitting max-level on your alt, you should be able to obtain your preferred Essences by playing the game as you usually would. Please note: Echoes of Ny’alotha may appear to replace Azerite in the Emissary and PvP reward panes, however, it does not. Echoes of Ny’alotha are always additive with existing rewards. We believe that it is more important to release this update with a reward display issue than hold the change for a fix. We expect to fix the display issue in the next week or two. We believe that it is more important to release this update with a reward display issue than hold the change for a fix. We expect to fix the display issue in the next week or two. We’ve seen discussion in the community wondering about the motivation for this change, especially considering that we previously signaled that we didn’t plan to make Essences account-wide. We’ve increasingly moved towards making cosmetics (mounts, pets, transmog, titles, etc.) and access to content (World Quest unlocks, dungeon attunements, etc.) account-wide, but we’ve tried to keep power (character levels, items, expansion-specific systems like artifacts or garrisons, etc.) character-specific. We take this approach for two main reasons. First, a core part of the experience of playing an alt has always been gaining power as you see the game from a different vantage point, and setting your sights on a goal, whether that’s just reaching max level, or achieving a certain PvP rank, or raiding at a specific difficulty. Thus, every reward that’s account-wide becomes one fewer goal to strive for on alts. Second, while many players enjoy playing multiple characters, and while having alts offers a number of advantages, we’re wary of making it feel as though focusing on a single main character is objectively the wrong way to play the game. If more power rewards are multiplied across all characters on an account, not having multiple max-level alts would be inefficient. That philosophy led us to initially decide against having Essences be an account-wide unlock, though it was the topic of significant and repeated internal discussion among the development team. The activities that reward Essences are all things that we believe are important to do at least once so that you become familiar with zones and stories, or to engage in aspects of the game that you may not have had a reason to try. If you are just returning to Battle for Azeroth or experiencing it for the first time, the goal of acquiring all of your Essences will lead you through many aspects of Warcraft’s endgame. More recently, as we continued to revisit the subject, especially in light of ongoing Shadowlands design, we came to see subsequent playthroughs of the same content for the same player differently. While we still firmly believe that each character should have a progression arc of power gains, the player behind those characters understandably may not want to repeat the exact same arc multiple times when they feel they have exhausted the variety or rewards an activity might hold. So if you’ve thoroughly worked with Nazjatar followers to earn your Rank 3 Memory of Lucid Dreams, or delved into Battlegrounds and Island Expeditions enough to earn Rank 3 Blood of the Enemy, we understand why you might not want to feel required to repeat that experience. This is the same philosophy that’s informing our plans for leveling in Shadowlands, where alts can pick and choose their path through level-up content once you’ve completed the linear narrative experience once on a character. Thank you again for your patience as we’ve worked through these questions, and for all of your feedback! You’ve helped guide us to these improvements to the system. This is the sort of conversation that we revisit every time we consider how upcoming systems will interact with multiple characters. We hope to get it right more quickly next time. 13. Diablo Season 20 Now Live Blizzard's Work-From-Home Policies In order to protect the health and safety of employees, Blizzard is implementing work-from-home policies for their Irvine and Austin offices, as well as other offices around the world. Windows Central - World of Warcraft Interview Windows Central have caught up with Steve Danuser, Lead Narrative Designer for World of Warcraft to learn about the past, present, and future of the world's most successful MMO. The challenge with Warcraft's story comes with pacing out content in a way that makes sense for the game.If they pull too many characters in at any one time, it runs the risk of making the narrative disjointed and hard for players to keep track of.World of Warcraft is a game, and so sometimes the needs of gameplay requires the story to hold off on resolving plot points until later in the expansion, such as with Warfronts. The aftermath of the mak'gora in Orgrimmar felt like a time when they really needed to show how majors characters were reacting, as well as the commoners in the street.Azshara and the Old Gods were always intended to be in Battle for Azeroth.Looking back, Steve believes that they could have done a better job making sure both factions got a deeper context for where the story was going so that the threads that connected all the elements were clearer. He feels good about how the players got to experience the major beats of the story and that each one was intended from the start. The parallels between this story and Garrosh were intentional to emphasize the theme that "Ours is a cycle of Hatred." The story shows that the underlying structures of the Horde is what enables the tyranny in the first place, and it's within this nuance that they sought to show growth and ultimately the fundamental change in the Horde Leadership. On the Alliance, they wanted to show Anduin's struggle to live up to his father's legacy and the cost it incurred. The aftermath of war is always messy. Expect repercussions from the Fourth War to carry forward for a long time. There is a lot more story to tell in regards to the burning of Teldrassil and the repercussions from it. The characters involved have a long way to go and many lessons to learn. The team will do more cinematics in the style done for Saurfang where it makes sense and at the right moments. In Shadowlands the player character will be referred to as "The Maw Walker," but is not heralded as an all-powerful champion, but rather as someone with great potential who has an exciting adventure ahead of them. The team plans to tell a focused story arc that will continue through updates and culminate in a compelling conclusion. There will be twists along the way with implications beyond Shadowlands. Certain long-running threads will conclude with new mysteries as well. The new leveling experience is meant to be a standalone moment that easily flows into BfA and expansions in the future to avoid what the current leveling experience has become. To believe that there can only be a single outcome to the struggle against N'Zoth would be to ignore the lessons he was trying to teach us. 15. Coming Next Reset - Account-Wide Rank 3 Essences from MOTHER for Currency Starting next week, alts will be able to earn a currency from Visions of N'Zoth activities called Echoes of Ny'alotha to purchase rank 3 essences from MOTHER provided you have already earned them on another character on your account! Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) Building on a great deal of feedback and discussion, we’re working on an update to the game. With the next regularly-scheduled weekly maintenance in each region, players who have earned a given Rank 3 Essence on one character will be able to directly obtain that Essence from MOTHER on any subsequent characters. When playing an alt character that is missing Essences that have already been earned on a different character, most ordinary Visions of N’Zoth activities, such as Horrific Visions, Assaults, raid bosses, Mythic Keystone Dungeons, or BFA Season 4 PvP, will award a new soulbound currency – Echoes of Ny’alotha. These Echoes can be brought to MOTHER in the Heart Chamber, and exchanged directly for eligible Rank 3 Essences. While ordinarily each specific Essence must be learned in order to unlock it for other characters via MOTHER, all Essences associated with Nazjatar and Mechagon reputations will be available if any other different character has earned any of the Essences available from that reputation. Our goal with this update is to preserve the efforts that players put into unlocking a given Essence through its associated activity the first time, while offering subsequent characters far more flexibility in pursuing that goal. We’ll have additional details in a forthcoming hotfixes update 998 that goes out around the same time as maintenance, but we wanted to let the community know ASAP that this change is in the works. As always, thank you for all your feedback on this topic! View the full article
