This excludes Arms Azerite Traits. Creatures and NPCs Da White Shark has turned a new leaf and has fully renounced the fighting tactic of beating someone with another person's body. Players should now always be able to see the reward treasure chest after defeating Da White Shark in the Grand Bazaar. Slickspill in Stormsong should now be much easier to loot. John J. Keeshan has decided to once again wield his old bow instead of the bow of a certain warchief. Dungeons Fixed a bug where a group of players below level 110, when partied with a level 110 player in a Legion dungeon, would receive heavily reduced experience. Fixed an issue that caused Alliance players who had completed The Pride of Kul Tiras to be unable to access Siege of Boralus. Fixed an issue that caused Horde players who hadn’t completed Zandalar Forever to be able to access Kings’ Rest. Clarified the error messages shown when attempting to zone in to Kings’ Rest or Siege of Boralus without meeting the requirements. Items Salty Dog Crackers are now consumed on use. The Stormsteel Saber now has a level requirement of 120. Player versus Player Steel Strongboxes now drop Dread Aspirant gear for all valid armor slots during the offseason. When unlocking World Quests in Zandalar and Kul’Tiras, Halford Wyrmbane or Nathanos Blightcaller will now give you a fresh Flight Master's Whistle if you left yours in the bank. Players are no longer stuck after abandoning “Into the Dunes” mid-flight. Scout Mckellis is now available at the turn-in location for "Powder to the People" and "One Man Against the Horde". "Wanted: Anchorface" should now be available to Alliance players before they unlock World Quests. World Fixed a bug preventing some Inns from granting rested experience to characters in War Mode. The Royal Treasury in Dazar’Alor is now flagged as a rested area. The second floor of the Snug Harbor Inn is now flagged as a rested area. The Flight Master's Whistle can now be used on the non-dungeon island of Tol Dagor. Unintended Conquest for PvP Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) With the Battle for Azeroth Pre-Patch, we incurred a bug that caused some PvP activities to reward Conquest. Conquest was never intended to be accessible while the season is not active, and while Conquest did appear for some players on their Character Currency tab, it wasn’t useable. There aren’t any items that can be exchanged for it in-game right now. We’ll be deploying a hotfix soon that will change any activities that are currently awarding Conquest to award Honor instead. When BFA Season 1 begins, players will start earning Conquest as planned. At the same time, we’ll convert any unintended Conquest that players earned during the post-season to Honor or gold. Additionally, new one-time PvP quests will get reset when BFA Season 1 begins. We want to make sure you can complete those quests to earn Conquest from them as intended. These quests are located in the same place where you turn in Conquest quests, so they should be easy to spot. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused, and we’re working to make the fixes and conversions as seamless as possible. We look forward to everyone engaging with the new Conquest System upcoming in Season 1 of Battle for Azeroth! Click here to learn more. Thank you! View the full article
  2. Kul Tiras Finale Cinematic, Leveling Cooking, Blue Posts, WoW History, D3 on Switch Arms Tuning Coming Very Soon Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) Greetings, Warriors of Azeroth! We’re working on some significant tuning for Mastery: Deep Wounds. As has been pointed out here on the forums and elsewhere, the value of Mastery is particularly low for Arms. Although we are still working out the exact numbers, you can expect the following changes, intended to make Mastery a competitive combat rating: A large increase to how much Mastery affects Deep Wounds’ damage. A decrease to the damage of Arms’ other (non-Deep Wounds) abilities. Increasing the effectiveness of Mastery necessitates that we offset it with reductions to other abilities, to keep Arms’ total damage about the same – this change is aimed at making sure Mastery is useful, not to be an overall buff to the spec. With an average amount of Mastery, Deep Wounds is going to be much stronger after these changes. Note that the impact of these changes will differ slightly per-character, based on how much Mastery rating they have. We will, of course, keep an eye on Arms’ performance and continue to make adjustments as necessary. With the first raid of Battle for Azeroth opening on September 4, we expect to make further pre-raid adjustments to this and other specs as usual over the next three weeks. Thanks for your ongoing passion and feedback. See you on the battlefield! Learn About Battle for Azeroth Class Trials Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) With the launch of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, we’ve updated Class Trials for level-110 characters. Now you can try a class in the expansion before you boost! On the character-creation screen, players who have the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth expansion can now create and play a level-110 “Class Trial” character with a preset class specialization. You’ll take this character through a tutorial experience and get a chance to play through the Siege of Lordaeron event, gain your new Artifact neck piece—the Heart of Azeroth—from Speaker Magni, and experience the introductions to Kul Tiras for Alliance characters or Zandalar for Horde characters. After that, if you’d like to play the class further, just apply a level-110 character boost to continue your adventure. Getting Started Whether you’re Horde or Alliance, you’ll begin your new adventure on a gunship high above Seething Shore. Your new trainer will guide you along the way as you become familiar with your new class, providing you with opportunities to practice against several enemies. Basic Training Once the experience has been completed—or at any time during the Class Trial—simply apply a level-110 character boost* to continue your journey in Battle for Azeroth. If you’re undecided, you can also keep the character around and apply a boost later, or delete it if you want to make room to try another class. Please note that if a character completes the Class Trial experience but is not boosted, it will be locked and unavailable for play until a boost is applied. While there is a limit on the time you’ll have to play through the Class Trial, you can log out of the character and continue the experience later with the time you had remaining. You’ll also be able to try multiple classes, and won’t be locked into only one Class Trial. Whether you’re already one of Azeroth’s protectors, returning for the new expansion, or a new player joining friends, the Class Trial experience provides an opportunity for Battle for Azeroth players to find the character that’s right for them. What are you waiting for? Take the plunge into the latest adventures in Azeroth! *One level-110 boost is included with Battle for Azeroth, and additional character boosts can be purchased in the Shop. Azerite Traits Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) The inherent issue with Azerite gear as a whole is the fact that you are trading secondary stats for 2 traits and some main stats, that to me isn't a good trade off if every single azerite piece had say haste/verst as an example with 2 traits and the main stats they have now then they would be a worth while trade out. But as it currently stands the one azerite piece is actually hindering me due to the lack of secondary stats which as a whole has made me weaker. Edit: Oh and the current set of trinkets I've seen thus far suck. These are some of the concerns I have but I'm hopeful. Getting into the higher pieces some of the procs are definitely providing some firepower and unique buffs, however they are passive procs/abilities or modifiers to existing abilities. I think when you're hitting some of the dungeon pieces it starts being more impactful over the secondary stats. At least that's my feel on it so far. I haven't jumped down the sim rabbit hole with them yet. Yeah there is an abundance of on use trinkets and the actual proc trinkets seem pretty scarce but that feels a little similar to the beginning of Legion to me. Luckily there is plenty of opportunity to replace those before Uldir and M+ opens up. I'm after that Rezan's Gleaming Eye at the moment and I'll probably buy the Darkmoon deck in a day or two once the price lowers a bit. View the full article

Easy Way to Level Kul Tiran/Zandalari Cooking to 110 JordanTH on Reddit discovered an easy way to level Kul Tiran/Zandalari Cooking to 110 using only vendor items. You can learn Rank 1 of Mon'Dazi from your Cooking trainer. Purchase enough for about 200 crafts (2000 Wild Flour, 1000 Foosaka, 400 Aromatic Fish Oil, and 800 Powdered Sugar) You can buy all of these reagents from either Henrick Wyther (A) or Hanul Swiftgalep (H). Be sure to go and learn Rank 2 Mon'Dazi at 35 Cooking. This should drastically reduce the DPS queue time so that its an instant queue. In case it wasn't clear this was very sarcastic. Queue times are fine! Just a lack of tank and heals because they're probably with static groups, also lots of people are still leveling. Even queuing solo DPS for heroics my queue time max has been actually 30 mins but estimated says around an hour. (It's just an estimation) (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) Azerite System Feedback Surely im not the only one who feels this way? The azerite gear is essentially the netherlight crucible. Most traits are passive and boring. Does it get better as the xpac goes on or..? Some of the default Azerite items from questing don't have a lot of variety because you're still leveling up. Once you're at 120 and getting them from vendors, WQs, and dungeons you start seeing a lot more variety and some pretty neat stuff. Like there's one for Ret that reduces the cooldown of Divine Steed and it gives a speed buff to your entire raid when you use it. Which I thought was pretty rad. It's definitely early, but I'm eager to see how it plays out and how this system shapes up as well as what else we might do with it. It has potential, and I'm pretty excited about that alone as a player. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) Allied Race Recruit-a-Friend and Heritage Armor If your friend grants levels to one of your Allied Race characters, it makes your character ineligible to receive the Heritage Armor. If you grant levels to one of your friend's characters, that won't effect your eligibility for the armor. But only the recruited player accumulates levels that can be granted, so that would be your friend. If they were to grant any of those levels onto your Void Elf, that would make your Void Elf ineligible for the armor. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) This Week in WoW History We're taking a look back at old MMO-Champion posts and World of Warcraft news that occurred during this time in previous years. Mists of Pandaria Cinematic The world premier of the Mists of Pandaria opening cinematic was shown in 2012. Premade Groups The Premade Group Finder was announced as an addition to Warlords of Draenor. Perhaps one of the most useful features that have been recently added, it allows players to create custom groups and search for players who want to achieve the same goal. As new content is added, this feature continues to evolve to make it easy for players to find each other. Warlords of Draenor Cinematic The announcement cinematic for Warlords of Draenor was released in 2014. In the short trailer, Gul’dan offers Mannoroth's blood to Garrosh Hellscream, who refuses to drink it and be lost to its corruption. His Horde attack the Pit Lord, and with a decisive blow Garrosh finishes him. The Last Bastion Overwatch has been releasing lore videos for several of the heroes. Bastion wakes in a forest, covered by dirt and plants. After reaching his target location he remembers what happened. War and devastation during the Omnic Crisis, in which he fought, left him with painful memories. Even though he was damaged in the initial fight, after downloading the memories of a different unit, he starts marching towards his target. Developer Interview - Technical Director gamesindustry had the opportunity to talk to Patrick Dawson (Technical Director)! The team starts working on the next expansion two years in advance, It's hard to support legacy content. With every patch, you need to make sure Ragnaros and Onyxia still work! Going forward, some systems will be contained within just one expansion, such as the Artifacts, so they don't need to be supported going forward. When WoW launched it was on single realms that were completely independent from all others. Now it is much more cloud based, so there are a lot more resources that can be shared between different realms and a lot more connectivity we can provide to our players in their gameplay experience. With the item squish, the team listened to PTR feedback and then fixed any additional issues quickly with hotfixes after launch. The leveling experience isn't as nice as Blizzard would like it to be. There is 15 years of content that people should have the option to do if they want to, but the team also wants the ability for players to play with their friends quickly. They have worked to improve this situation over time with the boosts and scaling technology. Doing another Cataclysm level overhaul of the world would have to make sense with the story the team wanted to tell. Deathwing being the destroyer of worlds made all of the changes make sense. The team doesn't have an expectation that every player should go through all the story. The team could do anything they wanted, but time and money make deciding if the trade-off is worth it necessary. They want to work on what would be the best thing for the community. Patches during Wrath had more downtime than this Global Launch. If you look at the history of expansions launches this is still in the top 3 regarding overall stability. If you disagree then I don't think you played any launch before Legion. Legacy loot mode, is it supposed to give less loot if more than 1 person is in the group? Heroic Alysrazor in FL25 gives me 10 pieces solo, but if my wife goes with me we only get 6. Is this intended or a bug? Are you sure you were on Heroic both times? It should be a constant total amount of loot (split among those present, of course). (WatcherDev) Is the siege of Lordaeron still available for other characters to do after BFA launch or was it removed along with war of thorns? The Siege of Lordaeron is a permanent part of Battle for Azeroth and a pre-requisite for Kul'Tiras and Zandalar. It will remain playable like Broken Shore was for Legion. Ion Hazzikostas - Warcraft Lore Interview Gameinformer had the opportunity to talk to Ion Hazzikostas recently about how Blizzard maintains the Warcraft lore. The Loremasters at Blizzard take care of research requests, review publications and lore content for publishing teams, host lore seminars, and participate in story rooms and creative sessions. The team has a language and pronunciation database for specific phrases and terms. During Wrath of the Lich King development, one of the writers asked how to pronounce "Ak’agthshi ma uhnish, ak’uq shg’cul vwahuhn". It would have made sense for Krasus to be there for the Sinestra fight, but he had already died in a book, so the team had to come up with a new Red Dragon. Sometimes the team revises history, but only very sparingly and only as a last resort. Khadgar was much younger in the Warcraft movie than the team had imagined him being at that time. In The Burning Crusade he was much older and had a long grey beard, so the team went back and made a younger Khadgar model. Continuity exists to enhance a story, not to tie the hands of creators. VG247 Interview with Gary Platner and Terran Gregory VG247 did a Battle for Azeroth interview with Gary Platner and Terran Gregory. High end cinematics have limitations to how many characters can be created and the Battle for Azeroth cinematic was far more than the CGI team has created before. Terran Gregory was personal disappointed that gnomes didn't make it into the cinematic, but thinks that as they grow their capabilities they will be able to showcase many more Alliance and Horde races. The Legion epilogues were the "return to the shire" moments of an expansion that ended with a world shattering conclusion. They wanted to bring the story back to terrestrial Azeroth and foreshadow that something will go wrong. The story team always discusses how to service both factions and it ultimately comes down to telling a compelling and emotional story. You can't set out with a goal to make sure everyone enjoys the story in the same way. That is unattainable. The team admires the passion of the fanbase and knew that bringing the story back to a faction conflict was gonna see bold decisions not yet done in WoW. They knew that there would be strong reactions to the burning of Teldrassil, but it has exceeded expectations! Alex Afrasiabi was quoted as saying "all those feelings mean we’re doing our job as storytellers, and that the community cares about what we’re doing." This single moment got extremely passionate and Blizzard still needs to make sure they make sure their people are being treated with respect, but they admire the passion. They enjoy watching the reaction videos to the content, good or bad. Storytelling involves highs and lows. Old Soldier would not have had as much impact without the Sylvanas Warbringer short. The team still has a lot of work to do to improve the new player experience. If something doesn't work the team will come back and refine it. They plan to support the game for as long as the player base supports them. From today's perspective, the team does not see World of Warcraft coming to an end. The game is evergreen and constantly attended to. Gregory says that Alex Afrasiabi designed this expansion like it would be the last. He said not to hold back. The team is committed to keeping WoW powerful and relevant as long as they can. XGN Interview with Gary Platner and Terron Gregory XGN interviewed Gary Platner and Terron Gregory in Amsterdam! Boralus is the shining gem of the expansion in terms of art. The city reflects in the water and so it basically had to be signed twice. Terran is most proud of the Broken Shore cinematic. Terran is an Alliance Draenei Paladin player while Gary is a Horde Undead Warlock. Terran wants to be a gnome paladin. Not everyone on the team knows how Battle for Azeroth will end. They don't keep secrets; it's just only having time to give people the information to do their work. PCWorld Interview with Dusty Nolting PCworld interviewed Lead Character Artist Dusty Nolting on Battle for Azeroth's Heroes.[/b][/size] Dusty loves Saurfang and seems him as a very important character this expansion. Allied Races allow the team to take the traditional aspect of an existing race like orcs and draenei and play around with adding cool and new features such as tattoos and horns and such. The team comes up with a huge story and the expansions allow them to further this story. It is not necessarily episodic like a television series. Exploring the new cultures in Battle for Azeroth has been the most fulfilling part of creating Battle for Azeroth for Dusty. View the full article

These are a small stat increase, but as long as you always keep one active, they will help out a little. Flasks: main stat increase that you should always have active Food that increases your secondary stats. You can either stick with food that gives 375, or craft some Sugar-Crusted Fish Feasts, which give Versatility instantly after sitting down to eat Drums of Fury: great for speeding up fights against named enemies Goblin Glider Kit: unless you’re a Demon Hunter, you should probably have a few of these to help you easily get to places from mountains. Reins of the Azure Water Strider: having a mount that can walk on water can be very beneficial at times Legendaries During your leveling process, legendaries will be available up to level 116, after which they just become items with high ilvl. Depending on the class and specialization you play, you will want to have at least two gear sets saved, but there may be more. Combat Gear Set: this is what you will wear for most of your leveling process. Keep in mind that items such as Sephuz's Secret can be procced on cooldown while leveling, as long as you have an ability to do so. Speed Set: moving around faster saves a lot of time when leveling. Optional Defensive and AoE Set: if you feel like you might be a little undergeared, a defensive set to help you kill named enemies might be necessary. You can also make a gear set with AoE legendaries if want to group up more mobs. Level 116 and Above: because legendaries lose their special effect, at this point you will want to equip two legendaries with the most stats on them. Artifact Weapon Hold on to any high ilvl relics you might have, even if they have bad traits on them. The artifact traits and relics become inactive while leveling, so having your weapon be at its highest possible ilvl will be the only thing that matters. War Mode Unless you’re uncomfortable with PvP, you should definitely enable War Mode for the 10% experience bonus, and the access to 3 new talents. PvP talents can offer very nice offensive, as well as defensive options when leveling, which on certain classes will speed up this process significantly. Add-Ons There are a few Add-Ons which can help you out during leveling, especially when it comes to pathing, and efficiency. Azeroth Auto Pilot (from the creator of ConsLegion) will guide you through a predetermined questing path, and give you specific directions on exactly what you should be doing. It also has a few other features, such as automatically accepting and turning in quests, which saves time. If you want to follow your own questing path, you should use Auto Quest Turn In. Leveling Tips Here are some suggestions to make the process as efficient as possible. The first expansion quest kicks off in Silithus, so you can wait at Magni for release. He will give you the Heart of Azeroth and your first Azerite Armor Piece. Level through your continent's 3 zones - Suggested Alliance Order - Drustvar then Tiragarde Sound then Stormsong Valley Suggested Horde Order - Zuldazar then Nazmir then Vol'dun Save your foothold War Campaign quests for after you complete a zone. Doing all 3 gives about one level. After your first zone is complete return to your capital hub to start the quest. Instead of vendoring quest rewards, take them to the scrapper after each zone. This will reward you with reagents and Expulsom (the new Blood of Sargeras). At 120 you will mainly gear up by queuing for normal dungeons (item level 310 gear) until you have a item level 305 and can gear for heroic dungeons (item level 325 gear). Make sure to do your 10 Regular Mythic Dungeons for the week. (Note that you can manually zone into heroic dungeons with a 5 man group under the required item level.) You need to have all reputations to friendly to unlock Battle for Azeroth world quests. Finish up any lingering quests until you make this requirement. Prioritize the Champions of Azeroth reputation as each rank gives you +15 item level to your Heart of Azeroth, as well as a 355 item level Azerite Armor piece at exalted. Purchase a Contract: Champions of Azeroth as soon as possible! You will want to work on getting 7th Legion / Honorbound reputations to revered for the War Campaign Completion and to unlock the Allied Races. Patch 8.0.1 Recap If you are just coming back, be sure to take a look at the Patch 8.0.1 recap for all of the system changes made to the game. Class Guides Icy Veins is ready to go with updated class guides! New Continents Battle for Azeroth introduces two new continents with 3 zones each to explore! Each faction levels in their respective zone and utilizes both continents for max level. Click the maps below for in depth previews! Kul Tiras (Alliance) - Tiragarde Sound, Drustvar, and Stormsong Valley Zandalar (Horde) - Zuldazar, Nazmir, and Vol'dun Heart of Azeroth Necklace and Azerite Armor System Battle for Azeroth has a new system of gear progression that involves the new Artifact necklace you receive right away, Heart of Azeroth, and Azerite Armor slots. Click below for a complete guide on how this new system works. Island Expeditions Battle for Azeroth brings a new Island Expeditions feature. Taking what the team liked from Mists of Pandaria's scenarios and stepping it up, these expeditions take a team of three players to uncharted islands across the Great sea in search of Azerite against advanced AI opponents. The first team to collect a certain amount of Azerite wins. Each island is randomly generated and so there is always something unique and new to find. The enemy AI does not behave like normal scripted creature AI. They will fight in a much more unpredictable way. Island Expeditions are role agnostic, meaning that they do not require a Tank, Healer and DPS in order to succeed. Difficulties include Normal, Heroic and Mythic. There is also a PvP mode where the enemy AI is replaced with 3 players of the opposite faction. Warfronts Warfronts are 20 man PvE large scale battles in which a team fights for control of a strategic point against the opposite faction AI. Stromgarde in Arathi Highlands is the first Warfront. Each faction will periodically take control of Arathi Highlands by doing a Warfront. The faction who doesn't control Arathi Highlands contributes resources to open up the ability to get it back. Having control of Arathi Highlands gives you access to rares and a world boss. Gear is a reward for completing a Warfront. Arathi Highlands Visual Updates Arathi Highlands has received some major upgrades for level 120 characters who unlock Warfronts during the war campaign. Battle for Azeroth Dungeons Each faction has 4 leveling dungeons. All dungeons open up to both factions at level cap. Keep in mind that Kings' Rest and Siege of Boralus will only be available as Mythic dungeons, unlocked as you work through your war campaign. Mythic Plus Changes and Additions Blizzard has continued to build upon the Mythic Plus system for Battle for Azeroth, adding in some changes! You can no longer swap gear while in a Mythic Plus dungeon. Mythic Plus will now have seasons much like PvP. This includes seasonal achievements such as Battle for Azeroth Keystone Conqueror: Season One and Battle for Azeroth Keystone Master: Season One. These seasons will also feature seasonal affixes. Season One will have Infested. Tyrannical and Fortified are now Keystone Level 2 affixes, meaning every Mythic Plus dungeon will contain one or the other. Your weekly Mythic + chest can now contain up to 3 pieces of gear. Allied Races Dark Iron Dwarves are available to unlock for Alliance at launch. Mag'har Orcs are available to unlock for Horde at launch. Kul Tiran Humans will be available for the Alliance to unlock at a later date. Zandalari Trolls will be available for the Horde to unlock at a later date. Battle for Azeroth PvP Changes Several new additions to PvP are now live! Doing PvP activities rewards you with Conquest Points again! You will receive a piece of gear when you reach the cap for the week. War Mode Bounties introduced in the pre-expansion patch continue in the new continents. War Mode Air Drops introduced in the pre-expansion continue in the new continents. The Dueler's Guild is a new location in the faction hubs that lets you queue up to fight other players one on one in a style similar to Brawler's Guild. New Arenas Hook Point (Kul Tiras) Magumbala (Zandalar) Battle for Azeroth World Bosses Battle for Azeroth has 3 new world bosses on each continent and 2 faction specific ones in Arathi Highlands for a total of 8 new bosses. Each one has a world quest associated with them and operate much like in Legion. The faction who controls Arathi Highlands has access to their boss during that time. Battle for Azeroth Reputation Guides Battle for Azeroth will feature a variety of new reputations to grind to exalted. Click below to learn more about each of them and what they have to offer. Especially important is the Champions of Azeroth faction, as they provide a boost to your Heart of Azeroth as you earn more reputation. Alliance Horde Neutral Additional Enemy Territory Flight Path Camps As you progress through your War campaign you will set up foothold bases in each zone of the enemy continent. Initially, these are your only base of operations and flight paths in the continent, but gaining reputation with the 7th Legion/Honorbound will allow you to purchase Scouting Reports in order to unlock more flight path camps throughout the continent. Upon purchasing one of these reports you must complete a mission at the mission table to receive the quest to head to the location on the map and unlock the flight path. Alliance Flight Path Scouting Reports Honored (50 War Resources to purchase) Scouting Report: Grimwatt's Crash Scouting Report: Veiled Grotto Revered (100 War Resources to purchase) Scouting Report: Mugamba Overlook Scouting Report: Mistvine Ledge Scouting Report: Verdant Hollow Scouting Report: Vulture's Nest Horde Flight Path Scouting Reports Honored (50 War Resources to purchase) Scouting Report: Swiftwind Post Scouting Report: Wolf's Den Revered (100 War Resources to purchase) Scouting Report: Hillcrest Pasture Scouting Report: Mudfisher Cove Scouting Report: Stonefist Watch Scouting Report: Stonetusk Watch Scouting Report: Windfall Cavern Battle for Azeroth World Quests Battle for Azeroth has continued the world quest system and there is a multitude of new quests and emissaries. Emissaries can reward Azerite Armor Caches. Each faction will have World Quests on both continents at max level. World Quests are a good source of Azerite. 13. Warfronts Guide - Battle for Azeroth Warfronts are a new major addition to the game in Battle for Azeroth. Essentially they are large 20 player PvE queable instances that are supposed to recreate the epic RTS roots of Warcraft 3. All 20 players must work together to gather resources, build familiar Warcraft structures, gain tactical advantages, and recruit/upgrade troops in order to assault the opposite faction's base and take control of the strategic environment. Currently there is no PvP aspect to Warfronts. The enemy that you face is World of Warcraft's new smart AI. The Battle of Stromgarde in Arathi Highlands is the first and only Warfront available at launch. The enemy AI is much more tactical than normal mob AI. It will behave strategically and act much in the way that a player character would, such as attacking healers first and using crowd control. Each faction will periodically take control of Arathi Highlands by doing a Warfront. The faction who doesn't control Arathi Highlands contributes resources to open up the ability to queue for their own Warfront to take the territory back. Having control of Arathi Highlands gives you access to rares and a world boss. Gear and Azerite are some of the rewards for completing a Warfront. Warfronts Weekly Cycle Blizzard has stated that a normal week of Warfronts will cycle between the following: Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker) The Alliance starts with ownership of Arathi Highlands, and Horde players challenge them by contributing professions items, gold, and War Resources to help their faction build up enough strength to attack. This is a region-wide effort. Once enough contributions are supplied by the region, the Warfront: Battle for Stromgarde unlocks and Horde players are able to queue for the experience. This queue remains open for a set duration, allowing players to complete the Warfront on a schedule that works for them. After the Horde attack is complete, the Horde takes control of Arathi Highlands, giving them access to a unique World Boss and a series of rare spawns and other rewards only available during the period when their faction owns the zone. The Alliance then begins contributing resources to challenge Horde control. How a Faction Contributes to Launching a Warfront In order to cycle the Warfront territory between each faction, the faction that is currently not in control must contribute enough resources to launch their Warfront. This process has a similar method as the Broken Shore and is region wide. You can see the progress percentage at any time by opening up the map of your faction's hub. The faction in control of Arathi Highlands can check their Warfronts board to see how close the opposite faction is to regaining control. There are daily profession quests that allow turning in your profession materials to contribute. You can contribute 100 gold a day to help progress the bar as well. If you do not have the gold or professions available, you can repeatedly turn in 100 war resources as many times as you like. Each contribution rewards 750 Artifact Power, which is not a small amount! You also receive 500 reputation with either the 7th Legion or Honorbound depending on your faction. Where to Queue for Warfronts When your faction is within the window of launching a Warfront, you need only to head to the Warfront table to queue up! It is important to note that the faction who launches a Warfront will always win. This is to make sure that control actively fluctuates between both factions. Alliance Base: Stromgarde Keep Stromgarde Keep is where the Alliance's base of operations is held. Horde Base: Az'Gorok The Horde now have their own base of operations in Arathi Highlands called Az'Gorok. It is situated slightly Northeast of Stromgarde. The Flow of a Warfront The very first thing that happens in a Warfront is you and your teammates floating in and taking back your Great Hall/Town Hall from the enemy. This happens by slaying a named opposite faction NPC that is holding the building. Next players split into two groups and retake the mine, lumber gathering area, and defend the main base as needed. Retaking these areas involves killing an elite named NPC and claiming the flag. After retaking the resource generating points, groups pushing forward with troops and retaking enemy strongholds all the way across the map to the enemy keep should be the main objective. In order to do so, you will need vehicles from the workshop to destroy the towers/gates. During all of this, you will need to defend against incoming attacks and continue gathering resources. Warfront Map You can use your Warfront Map to see icons displaying controlled bases, how far along constructions are, locations of teammates and enemies, and locations of troops. Warfront Resources After you regain control of your main building, the next step (and most important) is to start collecting resources to upgrade buildings, train troops, and create other buildings. There are only three different resources in a Warfront to collect. Iron - Iron is the most important resource in a Warfront. It is used to build/upgrade buildings, get additional support, upgrade and recruit troops and vehicles, and also in getting buffs from your base's altar. Iron is accumulated passively once your team takes control of the nearby mine. Passive iron is collected at the main hall. Iron can also be collected by mine carts at the mine. Miners can mine iron from nodes. Wood - Wood is not as useful as Iron, but is needed for certain aspects as well. It is used to upgrade troops, buildings, and for buffs from the altars. Wood does not generate passively. You must collect it in the fields north of Stromgarde by chopping down trees. Peons will cut down trees or you can cut them down yourself. Essence of Storms - This is a very rare currency that can be looted from rare NPC opponents. They are needed to provide the Call of the Storm from your altar for 5 minutes. Warfront Buildings The general flow of a Warfront involves collecting enough resources to construct and upgrade a plethora of different buildings that help achieve the ultimate goal of storming the opponent's keep and taking out their leader. Great Hall/Town Hall - This building is acquired automatically at the start of the fight once you take out the opposing commander. Required to construct any other building. Can be upgraded twice. Upgrade 1 provides more peons, faster troop production, and commander troops. Upgrade 2 provides more peons, faster troop production, increased damage from certain vehicles and allows commander troops to use special abilities. Barracks - Barracks is the powerhouse of troop production. Once constructed, you are able to recruit troops that will defend the keep and attack enemies as they travel along paths. There are many different troops from basic grunts to healers, some of which requires areas on the map to be captured first. Armory/War Mill - The Armory/War Mill is utilized to upgrade the armor and weapons of your troops. Altar/Shrine - After building the Barracks, players can turn in resources to acquire Bristling Power or use their Essence of Storms for Call of the Storm from your altar for 5 minutes. Workshop - This building allows you to build vehicles, which are necessary to take the enemy base. There is a limit of three active vehicles at once. Other Objectives During the course of the battle you will have to also send troops and players to attack and control different bases around the map. This is done by taking out enemies and their commander and then capping the flag in the area. Controlling bases opens up more options in upgrades. The opposite faction can reclaim these bases so they must be defended. During this time random elements, such as rare boss mobs and enemies, can attack as optional objectives. How to Win Warfronts The main objective of a Warfront is to muster a strong enough force to attack the enemy base and take out the commander. Your team will always win, however, you can make sure this happens faster by playing the Warfront strategically. You can be rewarded randomly with a piece of gear that has the base Warfront appearance at the end of the match Another Warfront appearance gear can be acquired from killing rares or the world bosses in Arathi Highlands when you control the area. The best Warfront gear apperance can come from the weekly quest chest from doing Warfront: The Battle for Stromgarde or Warfront: The Battle for Stromgarde Arathi Highlands Warfront Rewards Controlling Arathi Highlands gives you access to your War Machine world boss as well as a plethora of rares that can drop both mounts and gear! Broken Highland Mustang - Drop from Knight-Captain Aldrin. Highland Mustang - Drop from Doomrider Helgrim. Lil' Donkey - Drop from Overseer Krix. Skullripper - Drop from Skullripper. Swift Albino Raptor - Drop from Beastrider Kama. Witherbark Direwing - Drop from Nimar the Slayer. 15. Heart of Azeroth Preview - Battle for Azeroth In Battle for Azeroth, our Artifact Weapons will be retired and a new Artifact system will come in the form of the Heart of Azeroth, an artifact quality neck piece that builds on and evolves Legion's Artifact Power and Netherlight Crucible systems. The line in the sand has been drawn, and the Horde and Alliance are at each other's throats. Because of this, they fail to notice the world around them is dying. Magni Bronzebeard, speaker for Azeroth's slumbering titan, gives player characters a gift from Azeroth herself in the form of this artifact neck piece. The Basics The Heart of Azeroth will be a neck slot artifact that is used for all of Battle for Azeroth. The Heart of Azeroth requires Azerite to empower it. Gaining enough Azerite eventually levels up the artifact and unlocks up to four tiers of traits on your head, shoulders, and chest items depending on the item level of the item. Each tier has options that either empower spells/abilities, grants temporary buffs, or survivability traits. You can choose a single option from each tier as you unlock them. Empowering your Heart of Azeroth will also increase its item level. The traits offered are class specific and not spec specific. To clarify, the choice of options give you one option from each of your specs along with one option that works for all specs. Blizzard has stated that higher item level gear will have better options. As it stands from beta, there is only a handful of options for each spec and they are repeated among different gear sources. You can undo and reselect your traits from Azerite Reforgers in Boralus/Dazar'alor for a certain amount of gold that increases the more times you utilize it. This cost has a few day cooldown, reducing the cost by 50%, similar to the old talent respec costs. Acquiring the Heart of Azeroth Soon after the Battle for Lordaeron Scenario you will be directed to meet with Magni Bronzebeard in Silithus. He gives you the quest [The Heart of Azeroth in which you do a short scenario to stabilize the wound in the planet. Completing this will reward you with Heart of Azeroth! In Depth Look Let's break this system down a bit further. The Heart of Azeroth is directly connected to your head, shoulders, and chest item slots. Each of these items have tiers that you can progressively unlock when your Heart of Azeroth receives enough Azerite and ranks up. The outer tier is the first to unlock and presents a choice between 4 traits to empower your character. Three of these are spec specific and one is based on where the item came from. These are the most important abilities and are unlocked first. Items from time gated sources will have the middle band and present you with 3 set of traits to choose from. These options are more role specific. Next, the inner band can be unlocked to present you with another 2 choices. These usually give you a choice between two different survivability options such as a shield or heal on hit. Finally, the innermost ability will be unlocked. This is a single option that gives a 5 item level increase to the gear in the item slot. Each item has a certain Heart of Azeroth level required to unlock the trait ring depending on the item level of the item and slot. The team wants to make sure that this system improves upon our current artifact progression system and lessens the amount of RNG involved. Here are some ways that this new system address these concerns: The Heart of Azeroth is utilized between all of your character's different specializations and so each spec does not need to be leveled up individually. However, as stated above, the choices presented on the empowered item slots are class specific and not spec specific and are locked when chosen. Players will most likely need to have separate pieces of the same item slot for each spec to prevent crazy gold costs, but no additional Azerite will be needed between specs. Head, shoulder, and chest items cannot Warforge or Titanforge. The abilities that each piece of gear contains is the same for all pieces of the same name. Higher item level pieces will have a better selection of traits, but they can all be seen in the Dungeon Loot Journal and are chosen by the design team when creating the item. There is no RNG involved. Abilities on each band will be paired with other abilities of the same type. For instance, one band will give you an option between different utility traits while another will ask you to choose one from a group of offensive traits. You do not lose any Azerite when upgrading an item. Gaining Azerite Azerite is the lifeblood of the planet. Because of this, both factions are very interested in acquiring as much of it as possible. Much like Artifact Power, Azerite is gained by doing a multitude of different activities within the game. Nodes Chests Creatures Quests Bosses - Normal/Heroic/Mythic dungeons grant Azerite for bosses and daily first dungeon quests. Island Expeditions - Weekly quest, occasional rare quest, and some for each win, with an increasing amount per difficulty. Warfronts - Wins, World Quests when you own the zone, and more. PvP - Battlegrounds, War Mode rewards, brawls, and more. Acquiring Azerite Armor You can acquire Azerite Armor from normal methods with no lockout mechanics including world quests and normal dungeons only up to item level 340. Azerite Armor that is item level 340 or above can only come from sources that have lockouts to prevent farming it excessively. Azerite Armor is not tradeable in any fashion, even if you have a higher item level in that slot. Only the final boss of each dungeon drops Azerite Armor on Mythic difficulty and below. You cannot receive Azerite Armor from the chest at the end of a Mythic + run. Specific raid bosses and world bosses drop Azerite Armor. Your emissary cache can reward a piece of Azerite Armor. The cache will say "Azerite Armor Cache" if it rewards a piece of gear. Your Mythic + weekly chest can contain Azerite Armor. You can purchase item level 355 Azerite Armor upon reaching exalted with Champions of Azeroth. Catch up Mechanics Similar to Artifact Knowledge in Legion, the Heart of Azeroth will help players keep up with the ever-increasing power curve. Over time, the amount of Azerite required to level the Heart will decrease, allowing players the ability to catch up if they’ve fallen behind. The system should help give you a leg up if you need one, but you’ll still need to put forth an effort to keep your Heart of Azeroth’s powers growing. Heart of Azeroth Item Level Rewards As you gain new ranks of reputation with the Champions of Azeroth you will receive quests that upgrade the item level of your Heart of Azeroth! Friendly - You will receive To Save Azeroth (A) or To Save Azeroth (H). Turning this in will follow up with The Heart's Power which grants 15 item levels to your Heart of Azeroth. Honored - You will receive Unlocking the Heart's Potential which gives another 15 item levels to your Heart of Azeroth! Revered - You will receive The Chamber of Heart which grants another 15 item levels to your Heart of Azeroth!
